The American Heart Association curriculum conforms to current guidelines for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The CPR classes teach cognitive knowledge and the skills necessary to effectively administer high-quality CPR to adults, children, and infants.
Hands-on guided and independent practice activities are used throughout the classes. Active learning activities are also incorporated to teach the use of Automated External Defibrillator (AED), ventilation, effective team member participation during multi-rescuer CPR, stopping bleeding, first aid and relief of chocking.
Feedback devices provide auditory and/or visual reassurance to build confidence in performing CPR when needed. Class sizes are limited so that individualized attention can be provided.
So, dress comfortably. We will be on the floor practicing the skills that will be used in case a cardiac arrest is witnessed and other emergencies. If there is a physical limitation, please advise when enrolling. Every effort will be made to accommodate.
The Blended Learning or virtual classes allow students access to AHA high quality courses in their own space wherever internet access is available.
The AHA HeartSaver class can be completed online. Initial AHA Basic Life Support - BLS - Provider class requires in person skills observation.
